Professor Yao Zhao

Yao ZHAO, Ph.D., Professor, Ph.D. supervisor, was born in 1967. He was a post-doctoral fellow in Delft University of Technology, Netherland, from 2001 to 2002. In 2004, Dr. Zhao was selected in the Program for New Century Excellent Talents supported by Ministry of Education. He is the editor of several international and Chinese Journals. He is also a referee expert for the eleventh and the twelfth National Natural Science Foundation of China. He took charge of and completed almost 20 programs of national and ministerial level, e.g. 863 programs, National Natural Science Foundation. His current research interests include image and video coding, digital watermarking and information hiding, content-based information retrieval, etc. Prof. Zhao has published more than 130 papers, which have been cited 160 times by other researchers, in a lot of international journals (such as IEEE Tans.) and conferences, and 27 papers have been indexed by SCI. He received the Award of Natural Science for Higher Colleges and Universities (second prize) and the Army S&T Progress Award (third prize). He applied for 11 patents and some of the patents were authorized. He was the recipient of Zhan Tianyou Railway Technology Award, Excellent Cadre Teacher of Chinese University, Beijing Youth Medal, Young Cadre Teacher of Beijing and National Protruding Contribution Specialist.
