'I am delighted to add my support to this Sino-Scottish collaboration. This is an excellent example of Scottish and Chinese academics working together to expand the boundaries of pioneering research. In April this year I agreed a new Memorandum of Understanding with Vice Minister Madame Wu Qidi from the Chinese Ministry of Education in Beijing. One specific area we agreed to support was research collaborations between academics. I am pleased to say the establishment of the China- Scotland Signal Image Processing Research Academy is very much in line with this commitment. I would like to wish the Academy every success for the future.'

Mrs Fiona Hyslop
Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning
Scottish Government

'It is a great pleasure to welcome the establishment of the China – Scotland Signal Image Processing Research Academy and the inaugural ceremony being held in Beijing on 28 October.  The pursuit of such cooperation and partnership between China and Scotland in both research and commercial development will promote beneficial contacts in this important field. I look forward to seeing this new enterprise enhancing yet further the productive relationships that already exist at so many levels between China and Scotland in both academic and other matters.  I wish the project well.'

'I appreciate all the efforts put together by those setting up this valuable channel of cooperation. Tianjin University takes this as an important opportunity to form strategic partnership with universities and institutions with same goals and aims through this platform. I hope with joint strength by all participants, this working network will bring about benefits to social and economic development in China and UK.'

Professor GONG Ke
President
Tianjin University, China

'I am very pleased that this cooperation has been established, and I very much hope that the proposed exchange of staff and students will be instrumental in generating a real working partnership from which new insights will come. International partnerships have great value not only in increasing the number of opportunities for active researchers to compare notes and approaches to major problems, but also in building links that allow participants a better feel for the cultural differences between countries as well as the underlying similarity of aims.

Good luck with the venture'
